About the Role & Our Client

On behalf of our client, People First Consult is looking for an experienced Oil Operations Officer to support petroleum operations across the downstream supply chain.

Our client is a diversified Ethiopian private business group with operations across international trade, agribusiness, manufacturing, logistics, and industrial development. The Group has established a strong presence in import and export activities, trading a broad portfolio of commodities including coffee, pulses, oilseeds, livestock, vehicles, food products, and textiles, while continuing to expand into manufacturing and emerging industrial ventures.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in petroleum logistics, terminal or depot operations, and a solid understanding of downstream fuel operations. Experience working with an Oil Marketing Company (OMC) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support petroleum product receiving, transfer, loading, and offloading operations.
  • Monitor tank levels, product movement, and inventory while maintaining accurate operational records.
  • Coordinate product allocation and distribution to depots and offtakers.
  • Verify custody transfer measurements and ensure accurate product reconciliation.
  • Prepare daily operational reports, meter readings, and incident documentation.
  • Assist with product sampling, quality checks, and operational compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) standards.
  • Collaborate with terminal personnel and other stakeholders to support efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Transport & Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in petroleum operations, terminal operations, depot operations, or downstream fuel logistics.
  • Previous experience with an Oil Marketing Company (OMC) is a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of petroleum product handling, logistics coordination, and inventory management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
